Leaving Quad so that he could deal with Trien was not what Tarik wanted to do but he had no choice in the matter. He had fucked-up by bringing the human male back without permission. They had waited to hand down his punishment until Quad had woken up. They wanted to prove a point to him and everyone else aboard the Titan.

His feet were steady as he moved toward the holding area where punishments were dealt with swiftly. Security was at his side just in case he decided to bolt. Trien and his men were there. Every day he was getting more and more going to his side. The fact that these males were once loyal to Elian and had given that up scared Tarik.

They were already outnumbered.

Trien paced in front of Tarik. “Strip him.”

Tarik’s flight suit was pulled from his body. He stood naked in front of them.

“You have disobeyed a direct order by taking a member of the Royal Family off ship without permission. You have disobeyed your commander by bringing aboard another human life. Lashes are your punishment.”

Tarik’s eyes went wide when he realized Elian was the one who would be doing the punishing. There was a cold hardness within his gaze as he took up the cane. This wasn’t Elian. He wouldn’t submit to Trien like this unless his life and those of his crew were on the line.

As his wrists were bound, Tarik knew this wasn’t going to be easy. Trien came in close, lowering his voice.

“Tell me. Is he worth your life?”

“Yes.”

“You will not disobey me again or I will take him away from you.”

As the cane came down upon his back, Tarik gritted his teeth, trying to focus on the male he loved and not the pain taking over his system. His eyes watered from the impact of the cane. He didn’t count the hits. By law, he was entitled to one hundred for the infraction of disobeying a commanding officer—even one who was self-proclaimed as his commander.

Tarik’s arms were stretched out between the two pillars. The rope was bound around each wrist. Behind him, he heard the crack of the rod flicking out as it struck the ground. Tarik knew it was required that he should be punished for disobeying a direct mandate.

Order was the only thing keeping their world from spinning out of control. Sweat dripped from Tarik’s forehead as he took the lashes against his back. The biting sting echoed out within the room. When Elian was finished, Tarik hung his head.

“Thank you, sir. I will not disobey another order again.”

“What are you doing to him?”

Through the pain filled fog, Tarik lifted his gaze to see Quad rushing across the room. The male had disobeyed him and left the safety of his private chamber. He shouldn’t have been surprised but it hurt Tarik to have his male see him so broken.

“Stop. Do not come any closer.” Tarik’s words rung out in a strangled cry.

“Why are you hurting him?”

Elian put the rod away and went to speak with Quad.
